Beret - Dangerfield, everything else thrifted/vintage
Hi! I hope everyone had a great Easter weekend. Mine was crazy busy, and it's only now at the tail end of it all that I'm able to start blogging again - I've barely had time to return text messages to friends.
Eli's sister came to stay with us this weekend with her partner and their daughter, and as it was their first time in Melbourne for a very long time we had to pack a lot in! This outfit is from the day we went to visit some of their relatives out near Eltham. It was a lovely cold (but as you can tell, very sunny) day and I wore this jacket for the very first time. I'm still not entirely convinced that I like it because it's rather boxy but it sort of worked.. I'm thinking some darts in the front might remedy this, but whether or not I'll get around to doing that is a totally different story!
This brooch is one of about 6 brooches/necklace pendants that I've collected over the years from op shops and markets. It's a very Australian-outback-esque scene made primarily from paperbark. It's a little hard to make out, but its got some trees and some birds in the top left hand side there. This one is a little melted up top (it came like that) but in otherwise good condition.
I posted another one from my collection on Instagram last friday which features a little bark boat on a bark sea. So cute.
I don't have much info about these pieces, and I haven't really done much research but I've been meaning to. Has anyone else come across any of these?
My Mother had two of those bark brooches, which I sadly took apart in the nineties and put other pictures in..........what a dork!
ReplyDeleteYour frock is lovely, and such a gorgeous shade! X
Oh no!! I'm sure they looked fabulous anyway, and at least they were being worn.
DeleteThat jacket looks lovely as is...but I can see why you may want to put darts into it...it would make the cut more versatile. I've never seen any brooches like this before, what a great collection to have. xx Shauna
ReplyDeleteYeah, definitely, I find it very hard to wear with a lot of things. It's been sitting in my wardrobe for years but I just can't bring myself to get rid of it.. I'm definitely thinking darts will help the situation.
DeleteI don't come across them very often now, but there was a period of time when every single op shop or market I went to I would find at least one. I'd love to find some more though!
Happy belated Easter dear! :D You're looking dashing as always! The brooch is a treasure!!! O_O
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter to you too! I hope you had a good one. And thank you :)
DeleteHappy belated Easter! You look fantastic--- that dress is a wonderful shade of purple. And I do know what you mean about the boxy cut of the jacket... It looks good from here, though!
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter! Thank you :) I love a good purple! Haha, it managed to come across perfectly fine in the photos, of course, but honestly due to the cut and also the bulky wool it just kind of overwhelms me I think.
DeleteHowdy Taygan!

Thank you so much, that is so sweet of you to say! :) x
DeleteReally, charmingly pretty Easter ensemble. I love that you partnered purple and leopard print together in the same look. It's a fresh, completely lovely pair that I'll be taking inspiration from myself (thank you!).

Thank you! Can't wait to see what you do with the pairing!
