San Antonio

I am SO glad we visited San Antonio on our way to New Orleans (which is where we are right now!), it was such a beautiful town!!

We visited The Alamo, and went on a river cruise, which was gorgeous.

We also found a THREE LEVEL antique store. Wow.

What I wore - my other new Bettie Page shorts which are adorable and the most flattering shorts ever!

I miss my sewing machine sooo much. I'm finding it really annoying to be having all these ideas for things I want to make and not being able to just go out the back and make it!!

Everything's bigger (and hotter)..

.. in Texas!

Seriously, it was about 37 degrees celcius today.. That's 12 degrees too many for me, so I'm happy to be back at our air-conditioned hotel.

We're in Austin, TX for the next few days by reccomendation of all our friends who say this is just THE place to be. So far I like it, apart from the heat and the ridiculously priced vintage store we went into (well, by US standards. And there was those other, ridiculously well priced ones we visited earlier that I may have made some purchases in..). But this was only day one so more to see as the week goes on!

Dress - revival, belt - thrifted, shoes - Golden Ponies.

We walked down to the river via this cute river-walk.

Post-heat hair photos.. My rolls are progressing and I even made a bit of Gibson-roll action there without teasing or use of a hair rat, woo!

Abandoned train line..

We were mostly around the 6th street historic district today. There are some gorgeous old buildings there, as well as about a million bars!

Outfit: center of the universe

Today we are in Tulsa, Oklahoma visiting the center of the universe!

The center of the universe is a 30-inch cement circle on the ground at the apex of the Boston Ave Pedestrian Bridge and when a person stands inside it and speaks their voice echo's back to them.. The cool/weird part about it is that the echo can only be heard by the person standing inside the circle - anyone nearby will just hear the person speaking.

The Center of the Universe was created by accident when repairs and brickwork to the Bridge were completed, and no one knows why this phenomenon occurs.. Spooky!

Dress - vintage, bag & belt - thrifted, shoes - Coopoerative (from Urban Outfitters)

My rather scruffy rolls.. I still haven't completely mastered the art of rolls and swirls, but my hair is currently un-curlable due to whenever I brush it out so many little bits of hair break off I'm worried I'll have none left soon!
So time to master casual rolls on natural hair and wear lots of hats!

I'm basically making it my mission to visit as many vintage stores as possible on this trip - it's like going to a museum but you can buy stuff!! We went to three today but didnt really find anything we wanted to take home.

Bonus matching-couple-outfit photo. Heh.

Outfit: there's no place like..

I'll give you a couple of hints as to where we are right now..

*click, click, click*

We're in Kansas! Lawrence, to be exact - home of one of Eli's favourite bands, The Get Up Kids.

We've spent today hanging around the shops and park, we spent a good hour or so in this AMAZING antique store.. I could have bought almost everything but I limited myself to these pretties;

The dress is late 50's, handmade and mint condition, the gloves are perfect (MUSTARD!!!) and the hat was $4.. I couldn't resist.
I also almost bought the most amazing pale blue chiffon 1950's party dress because its was $22(!!!), but it had a couple of stains in the skirt that weren't really noticeable but enough to make me think about whether I really need a blue chiffon party dress (probably yes but just help me feel better ok?).

There is an outfit photo in those post too, see!

Hat & bag - thrifted, t shirt - Target, shorts - Bettie Page Clothing, shoes - Golden Ponies.

I'm obsessed with these shorts. We don't have Bettie Page clothing in Australia (as far as I know), and it was very hard not to buy one of each thing in the store, but I ended up getting two pairs of shorts because it was LA and it was BOILING.

We're just hanging out back at the motel watching some trashy TV now, tomorrow we'll be driving through Missouri and staying in Oklahoma!

USA update - up till now

Hi!
Just dropping in to apologise for the lack of posting - it's been very hard with sporadic Internet connection and no computer to load our photos onto (and there are SO many to share!!) but I am still here and as soon as we get access to a computer I'll be scheduling in a bunch of posts!

We are currently spending our last night in Rapid City, SD, where we stopped off to see Mount Rushmore - we've covered 10 states in less than 4 weeks and have many more to go!

We just spent 2 amazing days at Yellowstone National Park.. It was breathtaking to say the least, the photos we took do it no justice.

Here's a bunch of insta and phone photos from after where I left you last.. More real photos to come!
